Remember when Brian had that physical two weeeks ago so he could start his new job? His bloodwork came back yesterday and he has diabetes. I am so devasted, I can't even say it without tears coming to my eyes. I know, lots of people have diabetes and it's totally manageable and everything will be fine. But none of that matters when it's your husband. We have to go see our regular doctor next week and find out what we have to change and what we need to do.

I guess I'm grateful that we found this out without him having many symptoms. Hopefully he hasn't had it for very long and no damage has been done. Sorry to be such a downer today. But I really can't talk about it to anyone in real life yet.

i am sooo sorry for brian and for you and the family. i know what you mean about it being devasting even though it is managable.....you want him to be as healthy as he can be, and for him not to have worries! i understand.

my father was insulin dependant and then went on atkins for 2 years and now he is not. he watches what he eats, but doesn't follow the atkins stict diet. i have heard about others beating this with a diet plan.....maybe that will help. my dad has been insulin free for over 8 years now!

i will be thinking of you and of brian.

***huge hugs*** to have any long term medicial condition diagnosied is always tough no matter how much it is can be managed etc. its that scary part, the grieving part of normality that sucks. but diabetis is a ocndition that is managable and now you know about it so all should be well.

so sorry Michelle! I would count this as a blessing in disguise, early intervention is the best medicine! Now it's time to turn the corner and start a new chapter of health, and happiness! You guys will be fine, he will be fine!

Oh Michelle! Came to read a bit more of your blog today.... I'm so sorry! I hope that all is better. I read that things have been under 200 for a week, so here's to keeping that cycle! *hugs*
